Valencia was born to Pastor Toby Philpart and his wife, Sonjia Philpart. She attended high school in Fort Pierce, Fl. She began her college education at the University of North Florida, and is now finishing her education in Health Administration at Warner University.
Valencia started at Girls Inc. of Jacksonville as an intern in 2012. She then went on to become a Summer Camp Facilitator and from there, she became a PT facilitator for the GirlSMART after-school literacy program.
Within the past year, she has taken on the role of 3rd Grade Director and is responsible for the construction of lessons and activities for the 3rd grade teachers to implement in the afternoons, amongst other duties. Not only does she create lesson plans, but she also teaches a 3rd grade class at her school and is Site Director as well.
As Site Director, she supervises the other facilitators and serves as the “go-to” Girls Inc. staff member for the faculty and staff of the school in case they have any questions or concerns.
Valencia has always had dreams of becoming a Physical Therapist. While she has not given up on this dream, working at Girls Inc. has opened her dream to wanting to become a Pediatric Physical Therapist.
