We are delighted to announce and welcome our new Chief Executive Officer, Darlene Vaughn, to the Girls Inc. of Jacksonville family!
Darlene joins us here at Girls Inc. Jax from Indianapolis where she held the Executive Director position at Communities In Schools of Indiana. There, she served over 13,000 students throughout the state and provided one-on-one support to over 1,000 students in 25 schools and 6 school districts. During her tenure at CIS of Indiana, she served as a Program Director, Interim Executive Director, and most recently Executive Director of CIS Indiana.
Darlene also brings a wealth of experience. She began her career as a reading teacher at John Marshall Middle School at Indianapolis Public Schools. She then received a Master’s degree in Higher Education Student Affairs from Indiana University. As a Program Coordinator for a grant-funded college readiness program, Darlene ensured students were fully functional and prepared for the college setting. She then received her second Master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from the University of North Caroline at Charolette. Along the way, she has also served as a Program Director for Boys & Girls Club as well as a Parent Involvement Educator in Indiana Public Schools. Darlene also served as a Research Associate for United Way of Central Indiana.

Darlene believes deeply in community engagement, involvement, and collaboration efforts that meet the needs and elevates the community. She is honored to serve as the next President and CEO of Girls Inc. of Jacksonville, inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.
