Yolana has been an educator for over 10 years. She’s had the privilege to assist girls from daycare through early college prep. Yolana is a dedicated and passionate employee of Girls Inc. of Jacksonville since August, 2017.
In the 2017-2018 school year, Yolana was an elementary School Facilitator (Kinder-1st grade). In the following school year (2018 – 2019), She transitioned to an elementary school Site Manager at Biscayne Elementary. As Site Manager, Yolana upholds all administrative duties at Biscayne Elementary, ensures the quality of Girls Inc. programming and supervises over 70 students, 4 employees and one intern. Yolana has built strong relationships with parents, community partners, affiliates, and most importantly the girls in the program.
Yolana has also helped supervise and implement all 4-quarterly training sessions for incoming and returning staff.
Yolana also helped implement two successful Girls Inc. summer camp programs. In 2018 she supervised Kinder and 1st Summer camp participants and in 2019 summer camp was one of the two site managers appointed to oversee day-to-day administrative roles. During both summer camps Yolana was creative lead for a play titled “Mafas Beautiful Daughters” A Cinderella Story (2018) and a Two-part skit titled “Super Girl Powers” performance (2019). These projects were successful because of the support of staff and the phenomenal work ethnic of the summer camp girls!
